Search Engines - The What, How, and Why of Web Crawlers

Filed Under (Business Success, Home Business) by Kevin Sinclair on 28-03-2007

Surveys have shown that when potential customers want to find a website for information, or to purchase a product or service, they do this in one of three ways. They may have heard about the site from a friend or read about it in an article. They may find the site by clicking a link found on another site. The most popular option, by far, is that they find a website by using a search engine.

In fact, 90% of Internet users find what they are looking for by using a search engine. Since it is the search engine that ultimately brings a prospect to your website, it is imperative that you have an understanding of how these search engines actually function and how they decide what information to show the person that requested the search.

When you submit your website to a search engine, it will send a robot, often called a spider or crawler, to index your site. This automated program will visit your site, read it’s content, read the Meta tags, and follow any outgoing links that you may have. The spider then reports all this info back to a data bank where it is stored and indexed. It will also do the same for any sites that you have linked to. The spider will revisit your website periodically to check for additions and changes. The frequency of these return visits will vary from one engine to another.

All search engines employ some sort of ranking system to determine what the website is about and how important each website or web page is. The algorithm varies slightly from one search engine to another, but basically they analyze the frequency and location of your keywords on the web page. They also look at how your web pages link to other web pages. Using this information, the search engine can determine the subject of your web page and decide how ‘important’ your website is.

When someone requests a search on a search engine, it actually searches its database or index to find the information for you. It is not really searching the web in real time. It will return results to the searcher according to the ranking it has assigned to the pages. Each search engine will rank a page differently because they don’t all use the same algorithm, but their common goal is to present the most relevant search results first.

A webmaster needs to keep in mind that potential customers will probably only look at the first few listings before making a choice and clicking away from the search results. Yes, it does matter where you site shows up in the search results! Keyword research and quality content using these keywords effectively should be every website owner’s first priority. The success of your website depends on it.

Co-Registration - A Source of Leads For Network Marketers?

Filed Under (MLM, Network Marketing) by Kevin Sinclair on 26-03-2007

Many network marketers feel bombarded by the tasks necessary to make money and build a business. They must focus on building a contact list, contacting the people on the list, creating effective marketing material, placing ads, and getting their website seen. Co-registration is an excellent way for network marketers to ease the load of building their business while quickly building a profitable marketing list.

What is Co-registration?

Although everyone has seen co-registration in action, many people do not know what the word means. Co-registration is a method of generating opt-in leads by placing information about your offer on someone else’s website. Visitors to the site view your offer and indicate whether they are interested. You then receive the number of leads that you are willing, or able, to afford.

Co-registration is not the same as placing an advertisement. Think about the last time you responded to an offer or confirmed your subscription to a newsletter. You probably got a screen or a pop-up box with several other offers, each with a check box for you to indicate your interest in that offer. That was co-registration in action.

Benefits of Co-registration

Co-registration offers several benefits to network marketers. Among those benefits are:
• Affordability. You place an order for co-registration leads based on what you can afford. You decide, in advance, how much you are able to pay, and you receive the leads for which you have paid.
• Opt-in leads. The people who respond to your offer are people who have requested more information. They are people who are interested in what you are marketing, whether it is a product or a business. Co-registration can quickly build your list of opt-in leads, sometimes by the thousands overnight.
• Ease of use. With co-registration, you no longer worry about pay-per-clicks, optimization, or keeping your banner ads fresh. You are actively building your list without the need to constantly drive visitors to your information request form.
• CANSPAM compliance. The leads you receive through co-registration are people who have requested more information. It is not SPAM to send them requested information.
• Targeting. You can target your list by choosing co-registration leads related to your offer. For example, if you are selling chocolate, leads from a fitness site may not work for you, but leads from chocolate, candy and confectionary sites will.

Hazards of Co-registration

As with any other method of building your network marketing business, co-registration does have a few pitfalls that you will need to avoid.
• Too many offers. If the site that presents your offers is also presenting a long list of offers from other people, it decreases the chances of you being noticed. This also decreases the number of leads you are able to receive. Look for sites with small- to medium-sized lists.
• Price. Co-registration leads are priced per lead. This can run from a few cents to a few dollars per lead. The cheapest leads may not be the best for your business, but the most expensive may be way out of your budget range. Try to find co-registration sites that are within your budget while also offering quality leads.
• Quality. With every good thing, someone decides to ruin it in order to make money faster. With co-registration, there are those who provide outdated, low-quality leads. Typically, these leads are not people who have requested information, but are old names from a cheap list. Not only will they be a waste of your time, you may face issues with SPAM complaints. Shop around, and look for guarantees and customer feedback. Scammers will show up quickly on forums and websites for network marketers.
• SPAM complaints. While the leads are people who have asked for more information about your offer, they may not remember making the request. You may have a higher rate of SPAM complaints with co-registration leads. Use a separate autoresponder for these leads, and be sure you give them a way to opt out of receiving more messages.

Co-registration can build your list to thousands of names overnight, but you must know what to do with them. The trick to using co-registration in network marketing is to have a high-conversion offer ready for the leads. Whether you are using a newsletter to lead into your offer or you go straight into your offer on the first email, you need to be ready. If you are, then you are on your way to using co-registration leads to build your successful network marketing business.

Failing In Network Marketing Is NOT Your Fault

Filed Under (Business Success, Home Business, Network Marketing) by Kevin Sinclair on 22-03-2007

Thousands of people use network marketing to build a home business. Unfortunately, it is well known that the failure rate in this business is over 90%.

There are many reasons for this, but the key one is that many network marketing companies do not have business models that support you as a distributor. As a result, the cards are stacked against you from the start.

Here are some compelling reasons why failing in network marketing is NOT your fault.

You know the story: you have done the training, did three-ways calls with prospects, purchased leads, attended the “rah rah” company events, etc. We could go on and on. The bottom line is that you STILL failed! You wonder, “What in the world is wrong with me? Why can’t I make it?”

The bottom line is you are failing because your network marketing company is not taking good care of you. It does not have a strong foundational model of integrity. None of this your fault!

Here is another point to consider. Have you ever noticed that some companies have huge multi-million home offices? You see this on many of the companies’ websites.

Have you ever thought about where the money comes from? In network marketing, money comes from the compensation plan. Companies don’t have multiple streams of income; they just have the compensation plan. Unfortunately, in spite of multi-million dollar home offices, the money does not come back to you in the compensation plan.

If this sounds bad, things go down hill even further. If a network marketing company has a huge home office, doesn’t it make sense that some sort of maintenance would be required? You know, things like a cleaning staff, upkeep for the grounds, electric bills, water bills, etc. How about workmen’s compensation, 401(k) s, vacation, sick, and family leaves? What about those bonuses and cost of living salaries? A company has to have this in place for its employees. Now, where is the money to fund all of this coming from? The compensation plan!

The sad truth is that you and other distributors will never use your network marketing company’s multi-million dollar building, BUT you still have to pay for it and the upkeep. That’s hardly fair at all.

Let’s give this further thought. With a company model such as we are discussing here, where do you think their model will go in the future? Will they have more or fewer expenses? If you yelled to yourself, “More Expenses!” you got it.

Here’s another thought. Have you ever wondered where your network marketing company’s warehouse is located? I’d dare say that most people haven’t even thought about this. Usually, most cities have places called warehouse districts with low costs and low rents. So, it makes good business sense to house company stock in these districts, right?

In reality, many times this does not happen. A number of companies have their warehouses right next to their home offices. Other than looking pretty impressive, it really is a total waste of money. Now, some companies have their businesses in warehouse districts, but many do not.

Are you beginning to see why you are failing in MLM, and how your network marketing company’s business model is the problem here? With huge overhead costs, which are funded by the compensation plan, there is little to pass on to you and other distributors. Now, there are some great network marketing companies out there that have very strong business models that support the distributor, but you have to really search them out.

So, here are some compelling reasons why you are not having success with your network marketing home business.

Tried Network Marketing before and failed? It’s not your fault. Let this rookie “unknown” marketer show you how he embarrassed the “gurus” by placing over 4,120 people in his downline in 14 short months, while pocketing over half-a-million dollars. Now he has honed his SYSTEM into an idiot-proof step-by-step can’t fail, never-cold-call-again recruiting machine on steroids! He’ll even PAY YOU to check it out. ==> http://kgs03.getnetmlmprofits.com

Persistence Is The Key To Network Marketing Success

Filed Under (Business Success, Network Marketing) by Kevin Sinclair on 18-03-2007

Persistence can help you achieve great success in your business. Persistence may be the one underlying character trait in all successful entrepreneurs, business owners, self-employed, freelancers, and more. They all must have persistence. Without it, they might just give up when things do not go as they are planned or when there is a loss instead of a profit.

What is Persistence?

According to Dictionary.com, persistence is the act or fact of persisting, the quality of being persistent, continued existence or occurrence, and/or the continuance of an effect after its cause is removed.

This definition can easily be applied to any person, whether they have great persistence or just a little. The strange thing is that it seems that everyone has at least a little bit of persistence in them, and in training it can become greater. Just look at children and the way they behave. Children are extremely persistent in that they will try the same thing over and over again until they either accomplish their task or are suppressed by a parent.

For example, when a child is learning how to walk he or she will consistently try to stand every day. Eventually he or she will then take a few steps and fall. That fall never seems to phase them; they just keep on taking those steps until they can walk, then run, and finally jump. That is persistence in its purest form. The child just keeps getting up after falling and taking more steps until the task of walking is finally accomplished. Their persistence continues with learning how to run, jump, and then communicate, read, write, and so on.

This is just one example of persistence, and one that shows we all have persistence within us. Even if you feel that you are not persistent, you are, and you can become more persistent by creating worthwhile accomplishments and gaining confidence in yourself, your work and your life overall.

How persistence can lead to your MLM success?

Persistence is the one thing you need (not want) to have in order to become successful in your MLM business. It takes a lot of hard work, effort, and some failures to create a successful MLM business. The key is in continuing your efforts and learning from your mistakes. It can be difficult to analyze your failures, but it can mean the difference between success and not progressing as fast as you could. When you know what is working great and what is not, you can change it so you are more productive in your MLM business and earn more profits.

Keys steps to take to Become More Persistent –

As stated before, you can become more persistent if you do not believe that you are. Also, your persistence (if you are a highly persistent person) might fade over time with your MLM business endeavors. This requires consistent check-ins and review of your progress to maintaining high persistency!

1. Create Goals: Your goals must always be realistic. When you accomplish even the smallest of goals write them down and cross them off of your list when complete. This will help feed your self-confidence and business confidence and show you that you can accomplish what you set out to, in turn increasing your persistency.

2. Maintain Your Goals: Keep your goals up to date, and don’t be afraid to revise them when necessary. Goal planning can sometimes take time to get used to and learn how to do effectively. If you need to revise a goal, do so with no guilt. These are your goals for your business.

3. Planning: Plan for successes as well as failures. Everyone falls before they learn to walk, and even then we fall from time to time. The important thing is to focus on what your successes are and why they are successful and keep doing that, as well as increasing this part of your work. The hard but necessary part is to examine your failures and find out why they didn’t work. This will help you stay focused on what is successful instead of wasting your time on work that doesn’t turn any profits or accomplishments.

Persistence is the one key nearly every successful entrepreneur holds. Without it, there would be no success because everyone would simply give up. You can become more persistent with the right effort, work, determination, and analysis, even if you are not known for being persistent.
